My name is Petra Zentay. Artist, Illustrator.
I was born in Hungary in 1988.
I applied to a drawing school when I was 8 years old, then one thing came after another. I was 14 when I was admitted to an art school, where I trained in sculpture.
I went on to study design at university.
In 2011, the year before I graduated, I got the chance to choose between two scholarships, one in Denmark and one in Turkey. I chose Denmark, where I studied analog photography.
In 2012, I graduated as a ceramist and porcelain artist.
In 2013, I started my own design & graphic studio.
In 2017, I moved to Cyprus, where I worked with children for more than 2 years. After Cyprus I moved to Corsica, and now I live in a small village in Italy.
ABOUT ME
“A MAN BEGINS WITH CREATING
SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST YET.
TO BECOME SOMEBODY OUT OF NOTHING.
TO SEEK NOT THE SMALLEST BUT THE LARGEST OPPOSITION.
ONLY THE IMPOSSIBLE IS
WORTH BEING DONE.”
Bela Hamvas
Whatever I was doing in my life, in the end I always returned to the basics, which is paper, colours, shapes...
The inspiration for my work is drawn mainly from artists like Henri Matisse, Paul Rand, Tom Eckersley and Alexander Girard. Their naive artistic style uncovers a deep and straightforward truth. Just like a child would do while telling stories.
Among their honest and innocent words, not only humour, but bits and pieces of irony are also to be found, sometimes with a taste of bitterness, other times of happiness.”
